Who we are
Bright.Blue shares presentations ("decks") at explore.bright.blue. When a member of our team sends you a link to a deck, we record how the deck is viewed so they know whether it was useful and when to follow up.
What we record
A link may carry a short code (the "?k=" part). That code is how we know which person a link was made for: our team member enters a name, and optionally a company and an email address, when they copy the link. The code itself contains none of these, and nothing about you is ever put in the address.
While a deck is open we record: when it was opened, which slides were shown and for how long, which email, phone and web links in the deck were clicked, the screen size, the kind of device (phone, tablet or desktop) and the browser family, and the campaign tags of the link.
To count how many different people viewed a deck without cookies, we combine your network address, browser details and the deck’s address into a one-way code that changes every day. The network address itself is never stored, and the code can’t be turned back into it.
What we never do
We store no IP address. We put nothing on your device: no cookies, no local storage, no tracking pixels. We don’t track whether you opened an email, and we send no data to outside analytics or advertising services.
Why, and who sees it
We record this in our legitimate interest in following up on the decks we send and improving them. Only Bright.Blue staff can see it, in our internal dashboard. We don’t sell it or share it with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Detailed viewing records are deleted after 13 months. After that we keep only totals per deck, link and slide.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to us recording it. Ask the person at Bright.Blue who sent you the link, and they will act on it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
